Case Study: How EDEVA Uganda Took Its Civil Works Bookings Online

EDEVA Uganda Limited has supplied and installed aluminium doors and windows, office partitions, blinds, curtains, ceilings and steel works across Uganda since 2007. Its client list includes Uganda Christian University, NSSF, Buganda Land Board, WWF, BIDCO and UAP Insurance. Until now, almost all of its work arrived by phone calls and word of mouth. In September 2026 WEAF Company Uganda Limited built EDEVA a new website and customer portal at edevauganda.com. This case study explains what was built and why.

The challenge

• Prospective clients could not see EDEVA's work before calling — the portfolio lived in a PDF company profile and on WhatsApp.
• Enquiries arrived by phone with little detail, so every job needed several calls before a site visit.
• Customers had no way to follow the progress of their job or share feedback once it was finished.
• The company was hard to find on Google.

What WEAF built

1. A portfolio that sells

Every service — aluminium doors and windows, partitions, blinds, curtains, ceilings, steel works, painting and renovation — has its own page, and a project gallery shows real photos organised by service, with a full-screen viewer. Workshop and installation videos show the team at work.

2. Online booking — several services in one request

Customers create an account (with email or Google one-tap sign-in), choose one or more services, give the site location and a preferred date, and describe the job. The booking gets a reference number, and EDEVA's team is alerted by email immediately.

3. Progress tracking and quotations

From the admin panel EDEVA confirms the booking, schedules the site visit, records the quotation and moves the job through confirmed → in progress → completed. Each change is emailed to the customer and appears on a timeline in their account.

4. Reviews of completed projects

Only customers whose booked project is marked completed can leave a review, with a star rating and up to four photos. Reviews are moderated before publication, and EDEVA can reply publicly — so every review on the site comes from a real, finished job.

5. Built to be found

Every page is pre-rendered with its own title, description and social preview, so Google and link previews on WhatsApp and Facebook see complete pages. A sitemap updates automatically when projects are added, and the business is described to search engines with structured data (address, phones, services).

The technology

• Laravel 12 JSON API at api.edevauganda.com with token authentication and MySQL.
• Vue 3 single-page website, pre-rendered for search engines.
• Email through the WEAF mail service with SMTP fallback; Google One Tap sign-in.
• Automated tests (backend and browser) and one-click deployment through GitHub Actions to WEAF's VPS behind Cloudflare, with offsite backups every 30 minutes.
