Inside an Aluminium Fabrication Workshop in Kampala: How Windows and Doors Are Made

A finished aluminium window looks simple, but a lot of careful work goes into it. Here is how windows and doors are made at EDEVA Uganda's fabrication workshop — and why each step matters to you as a customer.

Step 1: Measuring on site

Every opening is measured after plastering. Openings are rarely perfectly square, so each frame is made for its own opening.

Step 2: Cutting the profiles

Aluminium sections are cut to length with precision saws — mitred at 45° for corners or square-cut for mechanical joints. Accurate cuts give tight, weather-proof corners.

Step 3: Machining and assembly

Holes and slots are machined for handles, locks, rollers and drainage. Frames are assembled with corner cleats and screws, and sashes are fitted with rollers or hinges.

Step 4: Glazing

Glass — clear, tinted, frosted or reflective — is cut to size and set into the frames with rubber gaskets that keep out rain and dust.

Step 5: Installation

On site, frames are set level and square, fixed into the wall, and sealed inside and out. Sashes are adjusted so they slide or swing smoothly and locks engage cleanly.
